Honoring High Achieving Talented Students (HATS OFF) is a statewide
awards ceremony held in the spring of each year.
Purpose Since 1981 Michigan has had thousands of middle school
students participating in the SAT and ACT testing through academic talent searches.
The Hats OFF luncheon honors the top 200 scoring students who are in grades 6, 7,
8 and who took the SAT or ACT during the current school year. We salute each student
and encourage you and your parents.
The top 200 high achieving students are invited by letter in April. Since 2001,
more than 300 parents and students have attended each year. The students are given
the opportunity to write tributes to teachers who have particularly supported and
encouraged their talents. The teachers are also invited to the breakfast.
