Curriculum

The College of Education offers a five-year online Chinese program (beginning to AP) in collaboration with GATE. The ACE program is based on the successful content and curriculum of this online Chinese program and transferred into an accelerated format. Students will complete the equivalent content in three years comparing to five years in traditional approach.

  • Year One: students will spend two semesters (Fall + Spring) to complete Chinese language content that are equivalent to two years of Chinese language learning. Specifically, students will finish textbooks Integrated Chinese Volume 1 & 2 in the first year of ACE. At the end of the first year, students will take Chinese language proficiency test (e.g. STAMP, OPI, AAPPL) to assess their proficiency level. 
     
  • Year Two: students will spend two semesters (Fall + Spring) to complete Chinese language content that are equivalent to two years of Chinese language learning. Specifically, students will finish textbooks Integrated Chinese Volume 3 & 4 in the second year of ACE. At the end of the second year, students will take Chinese language proficiency test (e.g. STAMP, OPI, AAPPL) to assess their proficiency level.
     
  • Year Three: students will spend two semesters (Fall + Spring) to complete Chinese language content that are equivalent to an AP Chinese language course. In the third year, students will be engaged in specific activities to improve their Chinese language and AP Chinese test-prep skills.
