For example - If they are applying for CHAMP and they have a math instructor that is not a parent, that person can complete the teacher recommendation. But if you are their instructor for math, enter your information and you will complete the recommendation yourself.

A homeschooled student's grade report needs to have:

  • Student's full name
  • The academic year (20xx-20xx)
  • All subjects and their grade
  • Instructor name 
  • Contact information

Many homeschool families need to create such a record. So long as your student's grade report has all of those items on it, it is eligible. These are the same standards that public/private school applicants are held to.

If they are attending an academy or other institution for instruction on any subjects, those most recent grade reports will be required as well.

Yes! GATE summer and academic year programs are extremely popular with homeschool families and those seeking alternatives to standard instruction.

Yes! Due to the flexibility available wtih homeschool students, they are eligible to begin concurrent GATE academic year (AY) programs. 

However, please note that AY programs are rigorous and will often require significant changes not just to your student's study habits, but can often impact the time they have for recreational obligations suchs as sports, music, and other enrichment opportunities. Beginning more than one program at a time should be thoughtfully considered.

No. All applicants submit the same testing. 

Visit your program's Eligibility page for accepted tests for the program you are interested in. 

Homeschool families most commonly submit an eligible CogAT or IQ test when applying.
